The museum-quality presence of the White Bear, in the tradition of statuary molders.
There is a French tradition of art casting — that of the great statuary workshops which, since the 19th century, have allowed major works to enter private homes without betraying their integrity. It is within this tradition that Artémus places this new edition of François Pompon’s White Bear.
Crafted in marble powder by the art artisans of Artémus’s casting workshop, this sculpture offers a rare museum-like presence. The dense, lightly grained material, in a warm white, gives the Bear a depth that reconstituted stone cannot achieve. Each piece in the limited series bears the individual edition number and the Pompon signature on the left hind paw, as with all Artémus editions.
Designed in close collaboration with the François Pompon Association, guardian of the artist’s moral rights, and bearing the official Artémus hallmark — with no possible confusion with editions produced during the artist’s lifetime.
