The Artwork
The Treachery of Images (1929), Oil on canvas. 60 x 80 cm. This iconic piece reflects, in the style of an advertisement, the philosophical question of the mutual relationship between image, word, and reality.

The Artist
René Magritte (1898–1967), a Belgian painter associated with Surrealism, is the master of enigmas. Known for his paintings that function as riddles or metaphors, he humorously and poetically reveals our difficulty in aligning the reality of the world with our mental images—what makes up the human mind. Magritte developed a unique pictorial language using recurring motifs: the apple, the bird, the man in a bowler hat, fragmented bodies… His images are often hidden within or behind other images, blending two levels of meaning: the visible and the invisible.
“Everything in my works stems from the feeling of certainty that we belong, in fact, to an enigmatic universe.”
One of his most famous works, The Treachery of Images (1929), perfectly illustrates his artistic quest. Featuring the famous inscription “This is not a pipe,” Magritte challenges viewers to reflect on the nature of representation. This painting embodies his obsession with paradox and his ability to make the ordinary extraordinary. Through this simple object, he invites us to consider the distance between words, objects, and their images.

Today, this iconic artwork takes on a new dimension through the exclusive edition of the famous pipe inspired by Magritte. This carefully crafted creation not only celebrates the spirit of the painter but also invites you to view your daily life with a sense of reflection and poetry.

Embrace the idea that art is never limited to what we see.
Made from noble materials and designed in a spirit true to Magritte’s aesthetic, this pipe embodies timeless elegance and the depth of his message. It is much more than a simple object: it is a piece of art, a symbol of critical thinking, and a subtle way to pay tribute to one of the greatest geniuses of modern art.
