In 2019, Hervé Di Rosa enriched his “Grotesque” collection by reconnecting with his roots: as a true native of Sète, the marine theme naturally imposed itself. With the piece The Beginning, he offers us a colorful swirl where fish with circumspect gazes seem to watch us. A question arises: are we witnessing the origin of the world?
In 2025, Artémus Éditions was captivated by this universal and hypnotic composition. To produce this edition, we needed a medium capable of preserving its full meaning and vibration. The choice was obvious: silk. But to transform this fabric into a true work of art, we chose to hand-mount it on a wooden stretcher frame.

This tension offers perfect flatness and allows the artwork to be appreciated without the distracting reflections of glass. Only this satiny effect, revealed by the structure of the frame, could do justice to the depth of the twill and literally invite us to dive, without any barrier, into the abysses of the Di Rosa universe.
“My style is to have all styles, and therefore to have no style. I don’t want to be an artist, but to be all artists—the good, the lousy, the generous, and the others. It’s not about being me, my ego, but about being the conscience of the whole world.” — Hervé Di Rosa
